Something spooky is coming to Amazon Prime Video, as the streaming network has just announced that they've landed the international rights to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's TRUTH SEEKERS, a horror-comedy series featuring the dynamic duo as paranormal investigators.

For the upcoming series, Frost plays Gus, one half of a ghost-hunting, duo who team up to uncover and film paranormal sightings across the U.K. in the series. They stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers, and abandoned hospitals using an array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos and share their adventures on an online channel. Their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, terrifying, and even deadly as the pair begin to uncover a conspiracy that could threaten the entire human race. (via Variety)

Frost will of course be joined by Pegg for the series, who is set to star as Dave, a character whose description has yet to materialize.

TRUTH SEEKERS will serve as the first series hailing from Pegg and Frost's Sony-based production company, Stolen Picture.

When speaking about teaming with Amazon for the series, Pegg remarked: “Nick and I are delighted that ‘Truth Seekers’ has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”

Producing the eight-episode, half-hour series for Amazon Prime Video is Richard Webb. As for writing duties, Pegg and Frost will co-write the script with Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz, who are also executive producing alongside Ketley and Jim Field Smith. Futhermore, Ketley and Smith will also direct the series which is slated for a September production start.

“Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making ‘Truth Seekers’ with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video,” Frost commented. “It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Simon, Nick and the entire team at Stolen Picture to make what is set to be the next thrilling Amazon Original series for Prime Video made by leading British talent,” said Georgia Brown, director of European Amazon Original Series.

Before gradually introducing audiences to their now-iconic "Cornetto Trilogy," which includes SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, and THE WORLD'S END – Pegg and Frost launched their hit series SPACED on BBC's Channel 4. Comprised of 14 hilarious episodes, the British television sitcom told the story of two complete strangers – Pegg's Tim Bisley and Jessica Stevenson's Daisy Steiner – who come to occupy the same flat. As the unlikely pair continue to live together, their rag-tag group of mates join them for one hilarious, close-quarters situation after another. In addition to Pegg and Stevenson, the show also starred Nick Frost as Mike Watt, Katy Carmichael as Twist Morgan, Mark Heap as Brian Topp, and Julia Deakin as Marsha Klein. If you've never had the opportunity to check out SPACED, I highly recommend it.
