It was revealed last week that production on Shazam: Fury of the Gods had already begun, and when asked if Zachary Levi would be receiving a new Shazam suit for the sequel, director David F. Sandberg merely replied, "Yes." Well, thanks to some set photos, we've got our first look at Shazam's new costume, which isn't a complete departure from the original outfit, but still offers a few big differences.

While some have wondered why Shazam isn't wearing a cape, it will likely be something that will be added in post-production for this particular scene. The new outfit features redesigned gauntlets, darker accents, as well as a fresh lightning insignia. What are your thoughts on Shazam's new costume? Is it an improvement over the original? David F. Sandberg also took to Twitter to drop a very short teaser that does show off Shazam's new duds, but largely keeps him in the shadows.

The finale of Shazam! introduced the Shazam family as Billy Batson's foster family, which includes Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, and Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, were transformed into superheroes themselves. We didn't get to see all that much of this family of superheroes, but that will change with the sequel. During a fan Q&A at DC FanDome last year, director David F. Sandberg says that the Shazam family will "definitely" be more involved in the upcoming sequel.
Now they’re all superheroes, they’re all a family with superpowers. And now we finally get to see that. We only got a glimpse of that in the first movie, so that’s something to look forward to.
Much of the original cast have returned for Shazam: Fury of the Gods, but a few of the new additions include Helen Mirren (F9), Lucy Liu (Elementary), and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story). Shazam: Fury of the Gods is currently slated for a June 2, 2023 release.
