Ryan Reynolds says even the most critical fan will love Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds loves the character of Deadpool, we all know this. His appearance in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE notwithstanding, Reynolds has championed the feature film DEADPOOL for years. When it was finally greenlit, we began worrying that it may be PG-13 versus the R rating we all feel it needs to fully realize the character from the pages of Marvel Comics. Now, Reynolds is reassuring us that DEADPOOL is in good hands.

In an interview with The Shortlist about his new movie THE VOICES, Reynolds shared his positivity and enthusiasm for the crew working to bring us DEADPOOL.

I’m incredibly happy about it – we’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope.

There is a great chance that even a PG-13 take on DEADPOOL could be good, but I still feel this needs to be over-the-top violent and profane to do the character justice. Even the popular leaked test footage was closer to R than PG-13, but we all know the studio needs to make it a viable franchise in this day and age.

DEADPOOL begins production soon with Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, and Ed Skrien in supporting roles. The film hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
