At one point, UNHINGED was poised to be the first film to debut in U.S. theaters earlier this month, but COVID-19 obviously had different plans. After several shuffles of the ol' release date, UNHINGED had been slated to hit theaters on July 31st, but it seems that Solstice Studios have now removed UNHINGED from their slate entirely. A new date is expected to shared before too long, with Deadline suggesting that the studio is looking at a date in August but that Solstice is waiting to see what Warner Bros. does with Christopher Nolan's TENET.
UNHINGED is described as a psychological thriller that takes something we've all experienced – road rage – to an unpredictable and terrifying conclusion. Rachel (Caren Pistorious) is running late to work when an altercation at a stoplight with a stranger (Russell Crowe) makes her a target of his need to teach her and everyone she loves a deadly lesson. In an interview with JoBlo, Crowe said that he had already decided that he didn't want to play a character so full of rage and with so little charm and humanity, but after meeting with director Derrick Borte, he began to come around to accept the challenge of the role.
