Ronda Rousey to play Ronda Rousey in biopic based on her autobiography

Looks like UFC champion Ronda Rousey has found a way to expand her acting resume beyond action films by playing an athlete and UFC fighter in the feature film based on the book My Fight/Your Fight. But, she won't have to stretch much for the role as she will be playing herself. That's right, The Hollywood Reporter says Rousey will star in the biopic based on her own life story for Paramount.

Rousey's memoir follows her rise to stardom at only the age of 28. If you aren't familiar with her tale, here is a brief rundown of her accolades.

Mark Bomback will write the script for the film, which would follow Rousey's life and career. Rousey is an Olympic medalist in Judo and the reigning Women's MMA Bantamweight Fighter. (On Saturday in Rio, she knocked out challenger Bethe Correia in 34 seconds to defend her bantamweight title.)

Rousey's resume has been growing over the last two years with roles in THE EXPENDABLES 3, ENTOURAGE, and FURIOUS 7. She will next star opposite Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg's MILE 22. I have yet to be that impressed by her acting despite her fun turn as a fictionalized version of herself in ENTOURAGE. This biopic sounds like it could be her 8 MILE and give her the chance to tell her own story with what I assume will be dramatic license.

There is no release or production dates for the Rousey biopic but I would assume Paramount is looking to get this made quickly to build on her peaking popularity. Stay tuned for more details as the hunt begins for a director.
