Rogue Nation’s Rebecca Ferguson joins Emily Blunt for The Girl on the Train

If you caught MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION in theaters this summer, you undoubtedly walked away impressed by the charisma and badassery of Rebecca Ferguson. She played British spy Ilsa Faust in the fifth installment of the spy series and not only proved to be every bit Tom Cruise's equal, but one of the best characters introduced thus far. Fortunately for us, her line of high-profile films has only begun.

Two months back we caught word that Emily Blunt would be playing the lead in an adaptation of "The Girl on the Train." The story follows Rachel (Blunt), a woman devastated by her recent divorce who spends her commute fantasizing about a seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day. One morning, she sees something shocking there and becomes entangled in a mystery. Rebecca Ferguson has just signed on to play the wife of Rachel's ex-husband.

I'm not familiar with the details of "The Girl on the Train," but it's already packing two of today's most badass leading ladies and that guarantees a ticket purchase from me! I've heard nothing but great things about the book, but that doesn't mean jack if the writer and director can't bring it together for a good adaptation. With Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson in tow, they're off to a great start!

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN will most likely open sometime in 2016.
