Guy Ritchie’s Robin Hood: Origins becomes 3rd Robin Hood film in development

If you're a fan of the man in green who loves nothing more than firing off a couple of arrows all in the name of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, then re-organize your communist agenda as there are 3 Robin Hood films in the works! The latest comes from Lionsgate in the form of ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS. As of now, Guy Ritchie is set to direct a script by Joby Harold in what's said to be a grittier take on the famed hero. It seems Ritchie is a fan of Harold's work, as they're also working on KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE: KING ARTHUR for Warner Bros.

For those keeping track, Sony also has HOOD in the works, which is said to be in the vein of FAST AND THE FURIOUS and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. Meanwhile at the house of mouse, Disney is brewing up NOTTINGHAM AND HOOD, which will be PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN in nature. It's common for rival studios to compete with their projects (JUNGLE BOOK and JUNGLE BOOK: ORIGINS, for example), although this many in such a short time span from Ridley Scott's 2010 effort is a little ridiculous. I suppose with odds like these, one of 'em has to be good, right?

You can check out Guy Ritchie's next directorial effort, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., in theaters August 14, 2015.
