Last week it was rumored Roberto Orci won't be helming STAR TREK 3, and in a post on TrekMovie.com's message board (which he's done in the past), Orci confirmed he will not be directing the film, saying he "will be very involved" and he and Paramount are looking for “the right director."
It was also rumored the reason why Roberto Orci won't be be behind the camera for STAR TREK 3 is because Paramount didn't like his script, which supposedly involved a new alien race and Vulcans searching for a time travel device, with the Vulcans wanting to use it to save their planet from being destroyed in 2009's STAR TREK. In another post on the site's message board, Orci said those reports aren't accurate.
No time travel was ever considered, fyi.
Roberto Orci didn't comment on the rumor Paramount might be interested in Edgar Wright to direct STAR TREK 3, but I'm sure the studio does already have a shortlist of directors they're considering for their film, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is Wright. Who do you think should direct the next STAR TREK movie?
STAR TREK 3 should be in theaters sometime in 2016.
