UPDATE: Christopher McQuarrie took to Twitter to clarify that he would NOT be directing the sequel and that Doug Liman was set to return. See below:
Correction: I am NOT directing The sequel to Edge of Tomorrow. Doug Liman is. I will be involved but there's no Edge without Doug.

The word from Deadline is that RACE scribes Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have come onboard to write the script for the EDGE OF TOMORROW sequel. The duo also penned the screenplay for Geoffrey Sax's FRANKIE & ALICE, and were hired to do a rewrite of Sony's big screen adaptation of the Mark Greaney novel The Gray Man.
Tom Cruise is expected to reprise his role from the original film, however it's possible that Emily Blunt will also return for the follow-up. And although last year Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the first movie, seemed skeptical that a sequel will actually happen, the site is also reporting that Cruise's JACK REACHER and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE ROGUE NATION director is attached to helm EDGE OF TOMORROW 2.
Obviously the film is still a long ways off, since there isn't even a script yet, and there's also no guarantee that the sequel will get made, but I have a feeling that I'm not the only one who is definitely up for another EDGE OF TOMORROW movie.
