Ocean Master Patrick Wilson Aquaman

Even since AQUAMAN was first announced with James Wan taking the helm, fans have been wondering which villain would be facing off against The King of the Seven Seas. Although many expected Black Manta to take on that role, today's casting announcement reveals that a very different baddie will be taking center stage. Deadline reports that Patrick Wilson (THE CONJURING) will be joining the cast as Orm Marius a.k.a. Ocean Master.

If this news feels somewhat familiar to you, it may be because our own Editor-in-Chief Paul Shirey reported that Ocean Master would likely be AQUAMAN's villain over a year ago. Your cookies are in the mail, Paul. As Patrick Wilson has appeared in four of James Wan's movies to date, I would have been somewhat surprised if Wan didn't carve out a spot for Wilson in AQUAMAN as well. For those of you who need a quick refresher on the Ocean Master, such as myself, here's what he's all about. Although his origin has shifted several times over the decades, the nefarious Orm frequently finds himself squaring off against Arthur Curry, his half-brother, for the throne of Atlantis. Wielding a trident which gives him the ability to control storms, Orm has has gone toe-to-toe with Aquaman on many occasions. Along with Patrick Wilson, AQUAMAN will also star Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and is set for a October 5, 2018 release.

How do you feel about Ocean Master serving as the AQUAMAN villain and, more importantly, how do you feel about Patrick Wilson filling the role?
