New Star Wars: The Force Awakens featurette goes inside John Williams’ score

A great deal of what makes Star Wars work so wonderfully is John Williams' fantastic score. When STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS was first announced, I wasn't necessarily worried that we wouldn't get to see Luke Skywalker or Han Solo or Princess Leia again, I was just hoping that Disney would be smart enough to ask John Williams back to score the new film. Thankfully, Disney was able to get John Williams on-board and we were treated to a brand-new Star Wars score. Williams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS score has been nominated (his fiftieth nomination!) for an Academy Award and Disney/Lucasfilm have released a short featurette detailing John Williams' work on the new film.

The 88th Academy Awards will be held on February 28th and see Williams go up against Thomas Newman (BRIDGE OF SPIES), Carter Burwell (CAROL), Ennio Morricone (THE HATEFUL EIGHT), and Jóhann Jóhannsson (SICARIO) in the category of Best Original Score. Speaking of the Oscars, don't forget to enter JoBlo's 16th Annual Oscar Prediction Contest! In addition to bragging rights should you win, you'll also walk away with some cold hard cash. Score.
