Michael Bay promises Transformers: Age of Extinction will not be goofy at all, plus a bunch of new images

As much as I don’t want to be, I am curious to see some footage from TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. I hated REVENGE OF THE FALLEN and DARK OF THE MOON was only worth watching for the Chicago battle sequence, but the entire Shia LaBeouf trilogy suffered from an over-abundance of cheese. While Bay is trying to reboot the franchise with this latest chapter, there is still going to be an amount of doubt in all of us who have been let down by the last two films.

In a recent visit to the set, Michael Bay was asked about what will set TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION apart from the first three movies:

“I wanted the first Transformers to be very suburban and less cool. This is a much more cinematic one. I focused on keeping this one slick. There won’t be any goofiness in this one. We went a bit too goofy [on the last one].”

On the plus side, at least Michael Bay admits the third film was goofy. I would love to see a TRANSFORMERS movie without Shia’s twitchy line delivery, but seeing as Ehren Kruger is back as screenwriter plus the rumored inclusion of the Dinobots, I am skeptical that TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION will be anything less than the same old thing we have seen three times already.

With a big cast including Mark Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, and Li Bingbing, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION will try to jumpstart the franchise creatively when it opens on June 27, 2014.
