Last year it didn't sound like Michael Bay will be back to direct the fifth installment in the TRANSFORMERS series, but TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION star Mark Wahlberg believes Bay will be behind the camera for the next film. Wahlberg couldn't provide Collider with an update on the status of the project, but he did tell the site that he thinks Bay will return to direct TRANSFORMERS 5.
The fifth film isn't expected to hit theaters until 2017, so Michael Bay still has plenty of time to decide if he wants to direct or not and will at the very least be executive producing, but I'm interested in knowing why he may have changed his mind. Does he want to try to prove the haters wrong, or does he just want to make things go BOOM again? I'm thinking it's more the latter than the former.
I know many of you were excited that the TRANSFORMERS franchise was going to be getting a new director, but who would you rather see helm the fifth movie, especially since it will likely be a filmmaker handpicked by Bay and company?
Michael Bay is currently filming his Benghazi drama 13 HOURS, and Mark Wahlberg can be seen next in TED 2 on June 26, 2015.
