ANT-MAN aimed to offer up a different kind of superhero film and whether or not it succeeded is up to the viewer's discretion…but if you're wondering when we can see Paul Rudd don the suit in a non-ensemble film again, we have an answer for you! Scott Lang will return alongside Hope Van Dyne on July 6, 2018 in Marvel’s ANT-MAN AND THE WASP. This sequel actually marks the first time that a Marvel Studios film has been named after its heroine.
Following this news, a few other Phase 3 films have had their dates shifted with BLACK PANTHER moving to February 16, 2018 and CAPTAIN MARVEL opening on March 8, 2019. Finally, there are three untitled Marvel films that are set to premiere on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020. Let the speculation commence!

As you can see from the Tweet above, director Peyton Reed is fully aware of the sequel, but there's been no announcement of whether or not he'll return to direct ANT-MAN AND THE WASP. I was wondering why Evangeline Lilly wasn't utilized more in the first film, given her familiarity with the technology and her physical prowess. I'm guessing Marvel picked up on that in a big, bad way given the title of the sequel. Now that Edgar Wright's name isn't attached to ANT-MAN, there won't be any preconceived notions going forward. That's a good thing as far as I'm concerned! Regardless of how you feel about the first film, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly have some decent chemistry and should provide for one of the more entertaining duos in the Marvel-verse!
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
