Marvel’s Kevin Feige on why Secret Invasion will be a Disney+ series

With countless number of heroes and cosmic battles, Marvel's Secret Invasion story-arc is one of the company's biggest, so you might have expected that Marvel Studios would save that particular story-line for the big-screen, but it was announced during Disney Investor Day 2020 that Secret Invasion would be one of the many Marvel Cinematic Universe projects headed to the Disney+ streaming service.

Secret Invasion will feature the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and while speaking with ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked if the TV series would match the scope of the comic-series.

Well, there were more characters in the Secret Invasion comic series than there were in Endgame so, no. It's not that but it very much is a showcase for Sam Jackson and Ben Mendelson and tapping into the paranoia elements of the Secret Invasion comic series that was great with the twists and turns that that took. So, that's certainly our focus more than, 'Can we cram in more characters than Endgame? like publishing?'

It seems that Secret Invasion will dive into the thriller aspect of the series rather than packing the screen with heroes and villains. While speaking with Collider, Feige said, "We're interested in the political paranoia aspect of Secret Invasion and really showcasing the stars with Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, two amazing actors that you want to have in any series, and we're very lucky to have them for that. That's the sort of primary focus of that and, of course, it will tie into other things and the Skrulls in ways you haven't seen before, but yes, anything could be anything. Wise words… But we wanted to do that as a series because it would allow us to do something different than we've done before." In addition to Secret Invasion, there are plenty of other Marvel shows destined for Disney+, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Ironheart, and Armor Wars. The first Marvel Disney+ series, WandaVision, will debut on the streaming service on January 15th.
