One of the best things about THE AVENGERS in my opinion was Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk. I've always enjoyed the actor, and while I liked Eric Bana and Edward Norton's big screen versions of the character as well, Ruffalo's is my favorite. Scarlett Johansson recently described Joss Whedon's script for THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON as "dark and dry," and in an interview with MTV News, Ruffalo talked a little about the script for the upcoming film.
"I would say that it's better, it's cooler, it's more awesomer. It's a little bit darker, but also really has Joss Whedon's incredibly, witty and sly sense of humor."
Mark Ruffalo was also asked if there will be some fan-favorite moments in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, like how Hulk punches Thor towards the end of THE AVENGERS.
"[Bruce Banner] gets to do such great stuff."
I know it might be a little hard to get excited when the description is "great stuff," but I'm pretty pysched to see Mark Ruffalo as Banner and the Hulk again in THE AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON. We have no clue if and when Marvel might do another solo Hulk movie (although Mark Ruffalo is still interested in doing a standalone film), and the only times we've seen him as the character has been in THE AVENGERS and the post-credits scene in IRON MAN 3, and we won't see him again until the next film, or another cameo. Which is kind of a shame, since he did such an excellent job in THE AVENGERS. But if that means we get a bunch of great scenes featuring Bruce Banner/Hulk in the new movie, I have no problem with Marvel's current plans for the character.
THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will be in theaters on May 1st, 2015.
