Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood get together for Splatter Sisters

Count me as not surprised on this one.

The gruesome two-some Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood will be starring in an upcoming “sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie,” titled SPLATTER SISTERS.

The film will be directed by Adam Bhala Lough, whose previous work was a documentary on rapper Lil’ Wayne called THE CARTER. Lough will have help from veteran producer Edward R. Pressman (AMERICAN PSYCHO, THE CROW) and director David Gordon Green (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) who will both be producing on SPLATTER SISTERS.

Lough penned the film which is a first in a planned franchise that will be set in 1989. He hopes that this will start a new sub-genre, which he calls, “Skinemax cinema”, based on the direct-to-cable movies of his childhood.

Green thinks that the film will really raise the bar, “This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level.”

The project was announced at Cannes, where Pressman is backing WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS. He had this to say on the slasher flick, “Lough’s unique talent and energy will make ‘Splatter Sisters’ a very special and markedly commercial film. I’ve always been attracted to smart movies about killers made by directors with a real vision.”

Manson and Wood have been together for a bit now, with plans to wed at some point. Originally, Manson was to play Lewis Carroll in his own twisted version of “Alice in Wonderland” titled PHANTASMAGORIA. Wood’s role was that of Alice’s alter-ego. Production has been postponed for awhile now, but Manson still has hopes of it getting made.
