Lionsgate gets the ball rolling on John Wick: Chapter 4 with a 2021 release

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

John Wick 4, Keanu Reeves

Well, that certainly didn't take long. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 – PARABELLUM opened in theaters just days ago and now Lionsgate has announced (via text message) that Baba Yaga will be returning for a fourth installment of the action franchise. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4 is currently slated for a May 21, 2021 release. As the third film has received rave reviews and box-office success, it's not the biggest surprise that the studio is down for more. Let's just hope that they can keep the momentum up.

It was just several days ago when director Chad Stahelski stated that both Keanu Reeves and himself were return to return should the audience demand it. "We create our own mythology, and we have a studio (Lionsgate) that both stays out of our way and supports us on the wacky decisions. If people go see the movie, and it makes money, and they came back to us, Keanu and I have ideas for days," Stahelski said. "It’s a fun world. I could live here for the rest of my career. If people like it and want to watch more, I could think of way worse ways to spend your career. We’ll let the audience figure that out." Clearly they have. As someone who is more than happy to watch Keanu Reeves hand out head-shots to every baddie out there, I'm already pumped to see how Stahelski and Reeves plan on topping themselves with another sequel, but I also don't want to see the franchise stretch itself too thin. Perhaps an endgame isn't such a bad idea.

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 – PARABELLUM is now playing in theaters, so be sure to check out a review from our own JimmyO.
