Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett & more join Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up

Don't Look Up, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Timothee Chalamet

Those of you who love a good ensemble cast will be thrilled by the A-list talent that Adam McKay has assembled for his upcoming Netflix sci-fi/comedy, DON'T LOOK UP. According to Deadline, none other than Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Timothee Chalamet, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Matthew Perry, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, and Tomer Sisley have joined the cast, which already includes Jennifer Lawrence and Rob Morgan. Save some actors for the rest of Hollywood, McKay!

DON'T LOOK UP will tell the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour in order to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth. Adam McKay will write and direct the film, as well as co-produce alongside Kevin Messick under his Hyperobject Industries banner. Deadline added that the majority of the newly announced cast have been loosely attached since earlier this year, but that Leonardo DiCaprio had been considering whether or not he could juggle DON'T LOOK UP and Apple's KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON with Martin Scorsese. It seems that he'll be able to, which means that DiCaprio's next two films will be produced by streaming companies. Given the talent attached to DON'T LOOK UP, as well as KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON, it's likely that both films will see some form of theatrical release, but I suppose that all depends on where we're at with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adam McKay's last film was the equally star-studded VICE, which told the story of Dick Cheney's path to becoming Vice-President of the United States and starred Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Justin Kirk, Tyler Perry, Alison Pill, Lily Rabe, and Jesse Plemons.
