Legendary closes deal with Frank Miller for Sin City TV series

Sin City, TV

Sin City lives. Deadline has reported that Legendary Television has closed a deal with Frank Miller to develop Sin City into a television series. Not only that, but Legendary is also close to making a deal with Robert Rodriguez, who co-directed the SIN CITY feature film and its sequel, SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, alongside Frank Miller.

At the moment, the deal which Legendary is proposing will guarantee a first season of the series, although that's dependent on them finding a network or streaming service to air it. The deal also includes room for an R-rated animated Sin City prequel series based upon Frank Miller's graphic novels. Should all go as planned, both Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez are expected to serve as executive producers, but it's unclear at this time whether they'll have any hand in directing the series as well. This isn't the first time that a Sin City TV series has been proposed, as it was announced several years ago that Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) and Len Wiseman (LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD) were developing one. At the time, it was said that the TV series would be a "far departure from the films" as well as introduce "original characters and timelines within the Sin City universe." There's certainly plenty of stories for a Sin City TV series to take advantage of, but here's hoping that this new incarnation of the project ends up more like the 2005 film rather than the 2014 sequel, which even the great Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) couldn't save.
