Kit Harington, Marvel Cinematic Universe

UPDATE: During the D23 Disney presentation on Saturday it was announced that Harington would be playing a character in THE ETERNALS film, although it wasn't made clear who. More as this develops…

Now that Kit Harington is officially done with Game of Thrones, the young actor is free to tackle whichever project comes his way, and according to Deadline, that may very well mean a trip to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unfortunately, that's about all the information there is. Deadline has only heard that Kit Harington will be making his next film in the MCU, but as everyone is busy with the D23 Expo, it was difficult to get any further information. However, they do note that more details may come to light before the weekend is out. BLACK WIDOW and THE ETERNALS are in production right now, with a number of films also in development, including SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, and THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER. There's also GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3, BLACK PANTHER 2, CAPTAIN MARVEL 2, and BLADE, not to mention new takes on X-MEN and THE FANTASTIC FOUR now that Marvel once again holds the rights. It's also possible that Kit Harington may be destined for one of the many Marvel TV shows in the works at Disney+, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Which Marvel character do you think Kit Harington would be the best fit for?

Kit Harington will next be seen in THE DEATH AND LIFE OF JOHN F. DONOVAN. The Xavier Dolan film takes place a decade after the death of American TV star John Donovan (Harington) as a young actor reminisces about the written correspondence he shared with him, as well as the impact those letters had on both their lives. Our own Chris Bumbray recently reviewed the film, but unfortunately found it to be a mess, albeit an intriguing one. "Biting off more than he can chew by adopting a style that attempts to unite three stories while he should have focused on one, this is a messy two-hour film with some pretty visible seams throughout," Bumbray said.
