Ho, Ho, Hart? If you've never been able to picture one of America's most popular comedians as that big jolly toy-dispensing resident of the North Pole, you might just get your chance as THR reports that Kevin Hart is currently in negotiations to play Santa Claus in Disney's upcoming DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW.
Based on an original idea by Scott Rosenberg (CON AIR), the family Christmas comedy will tell the story of "a New York City detective who is a workaholic and has a strained relationship with his son. The only thing that may be able to repair the father-son relationship is the one true Santa Claus who has to make the man believe in Christmas magic." So, a lot like every other Christmas movie out there then? Rob Burnett is penning the current draft of DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW, which is aiming for a tone similar to LIAR LIAR and ELF. No director is attached at the moment but a search is currently underway.
Kevin Hart has become increasingly in demand these past few years and some of his upcoming projects include a remake of THE INTOUCHABLES in which he'll star alongside Bryan Cranston, a JUMANJI sequel with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Karen Gillan as well as a third RIDE ALONG with Ice Cube. Dude likes keeping busy, sort of like Santa Claus himself.
