Outside of starring in and executive producing Paramount Network's Yellowstone, Kevin Costner typically hasn't ventured into the realm of television all that often, but its been announced that the actor is teaming up with ABC to develop a one-hour drama series set in the world of America's National Parks.
The network has given a put-pilot commitment with a financial penalty attached to ISB, a crime-drama which follows "the elite special agents of the Investigative Services Branch who are tasked with solving the most complex and heinous crimes committed within the diverse and majestic National Parks of the ISB’s Pacific West region." The potential series is set to be written and executive produced by Kevin Costner and Aaron Helbing, best known for Spartacus, Black Sails, The Flash, and Knightfall. Helbing will also serve as showrunner on the series, and although there's no deal in place yet, it's also possible that Kevin Costner may direct as well. In a statement, Costner added:
This project came from a long running friendship with Tana Jamieson of A+E Studios. We had previously developed a project together and when she asked me to work with her on this, her passion for the project made it an easy decision for me and Territory. I am excited to be working with ABC because of their history of breaking new ground and for their strong support of our creative vision.
Kevin Costner's Yellowstone wrapped up its second season earlier this year and has already been renewed for a third season. The series follows "the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. The ranch is under constant attack by those it borders—land developers, an Indian reservation, and United States of America's first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny, where land grabs earn developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world's largest oil and lumber corporations. Where unsolved murders are not news, they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of the United States as seen through the eyes of a family that represents both."
