Jonathan Liebesman & producers want to journey to Dimension X in TMNT sequel

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

What do you want to see in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2, besides less annoying humans? Some believe there’s a chance characters like Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady will make an appearance in the sequel, and in an interview with Screen Rant, several TMNT filmmakers said they’d love to explore Dimension X in the next movie.

The site asked director Jonathan Liebesman and producers Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form if the plan for the sequel is to “go big and sci-fi” by introducing Dimension X. Liebesman’s response? “F*ck yes.”

Dimension X is an alternate dimension that has appeared in the TMNT comics, and in the original animated series it was the home of several characters, including the villain Krang. It is also featured heavily in the Nickelodeon series.

The filmmakers then went on to talk about how they’ve already had conversations about Dimension X.

Liebesman: I would love to. I mean it’s not up to me. It’s up to all of us to decide.

Fuller: But we’ve talked about those worlds already.

Form: There are scripts that have been written for this movie that integrated those worlds into it already…

Liebesman: They were just too…it made the movie a bit too unfocused for this particular story.

It sounds like Jonathan Liebesman would like to return for the sequel, but it still hasn’t been announced if he’ll be behind the camera for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2. I know most of you aren’t pleased another movie is in the works, but it’s going to happen, and the only thing we can do is hope it will be better than the first one.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 is scheduled to be released on June 3, 2016.
