Johnny Depp will produce and possibly star in a Dr. Seuss biopic

Whatever your opinion may be of the film adaptations of HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, THE CAT IN THE HAT, and HORTON HEARS A WHO, the truth is that the stories created by Dr. Seuss – a.k.a. Theodor Seuss Geisel – still bring simple, imaginative joy to children and families today. THE LORAX will be the next Seuss adaptation you’ll either hate or love, but will the powers of Johnny Depp soon bring us a film of the man pictured above?

According to THR’s Risky Business blog, probably! Depp is on board the Universal and Illumination Entertainment live-action biopic about the life of the classic children’s author and illustrator in a producer capacity, and will possibly star as Seuss himself. A fitting choice I guess, despite the fact that Young Seuss literally looks like the offspring of John Landis and David Strathairn.

The film comes written by “In Treatment”‘s Keith Bunin. THR says that, “while producers say that the film is unlikely to take the fantastical CGI-coated style of Alice in Wonderland, which grossed more than a billion dollars worldwide with Depp in the lead, they are not ruling out animated bells and whistles.”
