Production on John Wick: Chapter 4 will kick off this summer on location in France, Germany, and Japan, and the cast is continuing to come together. Keanu Reeves will once again reprise his role of the feared assassin, and Collider has reported that Bill Skarsgård is in talks to join him. It's not known who Skarsgård will be playing in the sequel, but that's pretty much what we've come to expect. Wick vs. Pennywise? A man can dream.
Should Bill Skarsgård sign on for John Wick: Chapter 4, he will join a cast that already includes Stowaway's Shamier Anderson, Japanese-British pop superstar Rina Sawayama, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Donnie Yen. The only information about these new characters has to do with Yen, who is said to be playing an old friend of John Wick, who "shares his same history and many of the same enemies." During a Lionsgate earnings call last summer, CEO John Feltheimer had mentioned that they were hoping to shoot the next two installments of the John Wick franchise back-to-back, but according to a report from Collider back in March, that plan seems to have been abandoned for now. John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently slated for a May 27, 2022 release.
Bill Skarsgård was last seen in Antonio Campos' The Devil All the Time for Netflix, and will next be seen in Naked Singularity alongside John Boyega and Olivia Cooke. The film centers on "Casi (Boyega), a promising young NYC public defender whose idealism is beginning to crack under the daily injustices of the very justice system he’s trying to make right. Doubting all he has worked for and seeing signs of the universe collapsing all around him, he is pulled into a dangerous high-stakes drug heist by an unpredictable former client (Cooke) in an effort to beat the broken system at its own game." The film debuted at the San Francisco International Film Festival earlier this year but doesn't have a theatrical release date at this time.
