Jeff Bridges is probably one of the coolest actors to work in the business and he has gifted us with many memorable roles that have defined his career. Yesterday, Bridges announced another defining moment and it's one that the actor seems ready to attack with bravery and tenacity. The actor took to his Twitter account to announce that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
In true Bridges fashion, the actor started his post off with a reference to THE BIG LEBOWSKI by writing "As the Dude would say… New sh– has come to light.” Bridges went on to write “I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.” You can check out his full Twitter post below:
I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends.
Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together. https://t.co/6sAU4MYixl
Love, Jeff

News of Bridges' lymphoma diagnosis brought about an immediate response from FX, Touchstone Television, Hulu, and FXP. The entities produce his upcoming thriller television series The Old Man and it's clear that he has the support of all involved with his latest project:
"Our thoughts go out to Jeff and his family during this challenging time and they have our love and support. We wish him a safe and full recovery. And, as Jeff always says, ‘We are all in this together.’ Jeff, we are all in this together with you."
Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is the body’s network that fights off diseases. The lymphatic system includes the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland, and bone marrow. Bridges did not disclose which kind of lymphoma he had been diagnosed with but there are two main types. There is Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which represents about 10% of the cases, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which represents the bulk of the cases at -90%. Treatment for lymphoma usually involves chemotherapy, various medications, radiation therapy, and, in rare cases, can require a stem cell transplant.
Bridges has been nominated for a total of seven Academy Awards throughout his prolific career, winning one for CRAZY HEART in 2010. The actor was last seen in 2018's BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE and has three other projects in development that include THE EMPEROR'S CHILDREN, SHADOW COUNTRY, and an UNTITLED REED MORANO project.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeff Bridges at this time but we have to remember this is not a death sentence. As he stated, this is a serious disease but it can be fought and his prognosis is good at this point. "The Dude" will keep fighting and we'll all be there to cheer him on.
