It: Chapter One to float back into theaters with 8-minute Chapter 2 preview

It's a fact that not too many movies will get me into the theater twice within a 24-hour period, but that's precisely what happened in 2017 when director Andy Muschietti unleashed the first of a two-part adaptation of Stephen King's It in cinemas. Thinking back, I can still recall the feeling of elation and relief that washed over me as I'd realized that Bill Skarsgard was a worthy compliment to Tim Curry's version of Pennywise from the original 1990 TV mini-series. Yes, Skarsgard's version is quite different, but I'm of the mind that his performance is refreshing, and injects new life into the character. Truth be told, I think myself and lot of other people would have been upset if he'd failed to make the villain his own. After all, no one likes a bad impression of an icon.

Why all this talk about my IT theater-going experience, you ask? Well, it's quite simple, really. Fandango has announced that IT: CHAPTER ONE is returning to the big screen ahead of IT: CHAPTER TWO's September release. This momentous occasion will take place over two nights in August, and will include a special eight-minute sneak peak at the upcoming film. It's all happening on Saturday, August 3rd and Tuesday, August 6th.

Recently, it was revealed that IT: CHAPTER TWO will clock in at a whopping 2 hours and 45 minutes worth of Pennywise pandemonium. That's a full 30 minutes longer than its predecessor. Furthermore, it's also been confirmed that a director's cut of the new film also exists. When asked for comment about the director's cut, Barbara Muschietti told Digital Spy that "some amazing scenes didn't make it into the movie," which is ln no doubt due to the film's already impressive runtime.

"We will put out a director's cut because this time it definitely merits it," she said, adding that "you have to make choices sometimes and some things cannot be in this theatrical release but are definitely worthy of people seeing them at a later date."

The final chapter of Stephen King's classic horror masterpiece has Bill Skarsgård's Pennywise once again emerging from the darkness, with the members of The Losers Club gathering to fulfill their oaths by returning to Derry to put an end to the shape-shifting demon once and for all.

Starring as the adult members of The Losers Club are actors James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean. Meanwhile, Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Dylan Grazer are all set to reprise their roles as the Losers Club kids during the sequel's flashback sequences.

Gary Dauberman, who penned Muschietti's money-printing remake in 2017, will write the second chapter as well, with Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee producing, while Marty Ewing, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg all serve as executive producers.
