Word emerged earlier this year that one of the first projects to be developed under the multi-million dollar deal between J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and WarnerMedia would be something involving the characters who make up Justice League Dark, a superhero team consisting of DC's more occult characters, such as John Constantine, Deadman, Zatanna, Madame Xanadu, Shade, and the Changing Man. Well, WarnerMedia announced today that they've moving forward on a TV series involving the "iconic characters" from Justice League Dark, as well as two other TV shows for the HBO Max streaming service.

HBO Max has given production commitments to three new high-octane one-hour dramas from Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television Group. The first series is Duster, which will be co-written by J.J. Abrams & LaToya Morgan. "Set in the 1970’s Southwest, the life of a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate goes from awful to wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful," reads the official logline. Next up is Overlook, a horror-thriller series which is inspired by and will feature iconic characters from Stephen King's "The Shining" as it "explores the untold, terrifying stories of the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction." As far as the Justice League Dark series, not much is known at the moment, but HBO Max does say that more details will be revealed soon. In a statement, Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, HBO Max and President, TNT, TBS, & truTV, said:

What an amazing start to our association with the wildly imaginative Bad Robot team under J.J. and Katie. What could be better than an original J.J. idea and then Warner Bros. letting them loose on iconic I.P. from Stephen King and the DC Universe and to provide more must-have programming on HBO Max.

Duster, Overlook, and the untitled Justice League Dark series for HBO Max will each be executive produced by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot's Head of Television, Ben Stephenson. HBO Max is expected to lanch May 2020.
