Barely 12 hours ago we got the first teaser for SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. You all saw it, enjoyed it or it hated it, then you tucked yourself into bed and had dreams of spaceships and Donald Glover dressed in various large coats. Now it’s time to rise and shine and watch the full trailer for the movie, which is way cooler than whatever dreams you may have had. We get way more here than we did with the teaser, showing much more of Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and everyone's favorite Wookie, Chewbacca.
Here is the plot synopsis for the film:
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a seres of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
From a sheer visual standpoint, the movie looks pretty fantastic. There's a rugged, almost film noir look to many of the scenes, and who doesn't want even more of Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson in their lives? But in terms of a trailer that gives us a good idea of the story and overall tone the footage falls flat. It feels more like a teaser as it strings together a series of shots that show off all the characters and some cool action scenes. That would be fine had this come out in, say, December. But we are too close to the release with too little info, and now is the time to really sell what this movie is all about. This trailer didn't really do that, even if it did sport some impressive visuals and Glover looking so damn charming.
SOLO arrives May 25
