It's been a long time comin', but we're finally getting a live-action WONDER WOMAN film and tonight we finally got a peek at what director Patty Jenkins has in store for the superhero feature. Starring Gal Gadot as Princess Diana/Wonder Woman, the story is rumored to take place in both the modern era and World War I timeframe and judging by the set pics and this new footage we know that she'll at least appear at an earlier time along with co-star Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. Hosts Geoff Johns and Kevin Smith walk you through a few snippets from the still-in-production film, but this ought to be enough to get you at least a little (or a lot) excited about the first female-led superhero film to hit theaters in 2017.
Check it out:
It's definitely got a somewhat 300 and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER feel to it (maybe that's the speed-ramping, shield, and historical setting, but so it goes) and Gadot looks picture perfect as WONDER WOMAN, so this is certainly hitting the right buttons in terms of enticing the audience. I'm all in so far, but look forward to seeing how the whole thing shapes up once the film is wrapped and we get a better feel for where the story is going. We've heard plenty of rumors (some of them our own), but you never know what you'll get until it's on the big screen.
WONDER WOMAN is slated to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
