Family Guy & Bob’s Burgers renewed for two seasons each at Fox

Giggity Giggity Goo! It's been announced that Fox has ordered two additional seasons for both Family Guy and Bob's Burgers. For those of you playing at home, the renewal means that Famly Guy will run through its 20th season, while Bob's Burgers will serve up episodes through Season 13.

“’Family Guy’ and ‘Bob’s Burgers’ are key pillars of our network’s success,” said Michael Thorn, president of enteratinment for Fox Entertainment. “By taking the genre to new heights and driving pop culture in meaningful ways, they’ve laid the foundation for making Animation Domination one of the most powerful program blocks in all of television. Both of these two-season renewals affirm once again our commitment to animation and empower us to continue in our build as the leader in the space with distinct and fresh new comedies. We’d like to thank Seth, Loren and their entire teams, not to mention our partners at 20th Television, and we’re excited to continue these great shows with them.”

Both animated series have become titans within the animation community since their respective debuts. Bob's Burgers was created and is executive-produced by Loren Bouchard and Jim Dauterive, and shares the misadventures of the Belchers, a family of modest means who operate a burger joint on Ocean Avenue in an unnamed seaside community. Throughout the years, parents Bob and Linda; and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise Belcher have encountered a myriad of mishaps including ruined birthdays, rancid-smelling Capoeira studios, ghosts, nightmare sleepovers, and robotic sharks run amok. Unlike Family Guy, episodes of Bob's Burgers often end with some manner of a lesson learned, or a high note to leave viewers feeling giddy and optimistic about the days ahead.

As for Family Guy, the crude and oftentimes hilarious series was created and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, with Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin also serving as executive producers and showrunners. The long-running animated sitcom centers around the Griffins, a family that has handily wormed their way into homes across America and beyond with their off-color comedy and quick-cut, sketch-like comedy. The family consists of parents Peter and Lois; their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their anthropomorphic pet dog, Brian. They're a questionable lot at the best of times and are never afraid to punch below the belt for a good laugh.

Like I was saying, both shows are stand-outs of the current animated arena, and I've no doubt that fans will be excited to hear that both the Belchers and the Griffins will be sticking around for at least a few more seasons to come.
