Today, THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA is haunting a theatre near you. Based on an urban legend used to frighten children into good behavior, Curse brings the nightmarish folk tale of La Llorona to life. The film stars Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez and more, and it is directed by Michael Chaves who gives this enjoyable flick a little good, spooky fun. And to help amp of the terror, Warner Brothers magically turned their lot into a very scary place in celebration of the new film. This included a ghostly nighttime studio tour, and a groovy set up that was enough to creep those in attendance out a bit – I’ve added a few pictures below.
All of this led to a fantastic conversation with Cardellini, Cruz and Velasquez about the legend of La Llorona. The three talked about what this haunted legacy meant to them. And while Linda didn’t have the connection that the other two had to the story, she certainly appeared to have a great time getting into the spookiness of it all. The three actors were all terrific to talk with, and to add to the mysterious mood of the night, I was also blessed by a real life shaman named Miquel. And apparently, I may not always be alone myself – cue the spooky music!!
