Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the cover for thier Comic Con issue, featuring none other than your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man facing off with his newest movie villain, Electro, as portrayed by Jamie Foxx. So far, we’ve seen some snippets of Foxx on the set and in make-up, but this is the first time we’ve seen him in an actual costume. Granted, it’s still nothing like the original green and yellow get up (nor the purple “ultimate” version), but it’s still…something, right?
Take a gander:
There’s something very intriguing about the ambition of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. At first, it feels like they’re just tossing in every villain, plot, and convention to spruce up the film in the hopes for mass appeal, but then you have to think that certainly these people have seen BATMAN AND ROBIN and know that more is not better. In fact, it seems like they very well may have a grand scheme up their sleeve, with the “delaying” of Mary Jane’s appearance and the announcement of two more sequels over the next five years. Time will tell, but now that the snoozer of the origin reboot is in the can, I’m intrigued to see Spidey get down to business and so, apparently, is director Marc Webb, who says:
“People aren’t scared. With the first one I felt it was important to retell that origin story. But that was kind of brutal because people were so familiar with it. Now that the origin story is done? We’re off to the races. It’s incredibly liberating.”
Here’s the synopsis:
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, starring everybody, including Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Sarah Gadon, Denis Leary, and B.J. Novak, swings into action on May 2, 2014.
