The first show that DC will launch on its new streaming service is the series TITANS, a dark, violent take on the Teen Titans. The show has already generated a ton of buzz ahead of its premiere, especially around the fact Robin (Brenton Thwaites) says a swear, all before beating thugs to a bloody pulp. Well, if that gets you excited then congratulations because DC has so much faith in their show and their cursing Robin that they have already renewed the series for a second season.

The news was announced at New York Comic Con (via Deadline) after the world premiere of the show. What likely helped DC and Warner Bros. TV feel confident in renewing the show was the deal they just made with Netflix to air the show on the streaming service to international audiences, while folks in America will be able to stream it on the DC app. That, and because this first season is going to be huge.

Reviews of the show have been making their way around the internet after the premiere (ours will be up soon), and so far critics have been giving some points to the show for embracing the dramatic approach to the team. However, many have been taking shots at the overly dark tone and crazy amounts of violence, all hinting it tries a bit too hard to be gritty. Of course, you can all see for yourself when the show drops on October 12, and if you don't like it, well, maybe season two can make some improvements because we're definitely getting season two.
Starring a young cast including Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, TITANS follows four heroes as they work to clean up the streets of crime and deal with classic coming-of-age trials along the way. The series also stars clean Minka Kelly and Alan Ritchson.
TITANS premieres on the DC Universe streaming app on October 12.
