Coronavirus prompts production halt on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

As the coronavirus continues to spread, its effects have been felt in just about every industry, including the entertainment industry. We've seen the release dates of several films, including NO TIME TO DIE and PETER RABBIT 2, get pushed back, the cancellation of the South by Southwest film festival, and a halt on the production of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 in Italy, just to name a few.

According to Deadline, the latest production to be affected by the coronavirus is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the upcoming Marvel TV series for the Disney+ streaming service which stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, also known as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While the series had been shooting in Atlanta for months, they began shooting in Prague just days ago, but after the government of Prague closed schools and placed other restrictions on events and travel, the Marvel series has had to shut down production. The shoot was only slated to last a little more than a week, and there's no word on if production will return to Prague, but Deadline seems to think that it's unlikely. You might recall that this isn't the first time that production on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been interrupted, as the 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Puerto Rico earlier this year caused plans for production in the region to be halted.

Here are the synopsis' for the upcoming Marvel shows on Disney+:

• THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER – Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” The all-new series is directed by Kari Skogland; Malcolm Spellman is the head writer.
• WANDAVISION – Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. The new series is directed by Matt Shakman; Jac Schaeffer is head writer.
• LOKI – In Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Kate Herron directs and Michael Waldron is head writer.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to debut in August 2020, followed by WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, in December 2020, and Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, in Spring 2021.
