Chris Hemsworth to play Hulk Hogan in biopic directed by Todd Phillips

Alright, you little Hulkamaniacs, I hope you're ready for a feature-film based on the life of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan, because that's exactly what you're about to get! THR has reported that Hulkamania will soon be running wild in an upcoming Hulk Hogan biopic which will star Chris Hemsworth (AVENGERS: ENDGAME) as the big man himself. Did not see that coming, brother.

The project is still in the early stages, but Todd Phillips (THE JOKER) will direct the film and a deal with Netflix is in the midst of closing. Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hulk Hogan began his career in the late '70s in various fighting circuits before being moving to the WWF where he became one of its biggest names, serving as a key face of the franchise throughout the '80s. There were magazines, video-games, movies, and even a Saturday morning cartoon, Hulkmania was very real. Recent years have seen Hogan battle several scandals, but THR says that the biopic won't be focusing those years, but rather on Hogan's rise to fame as the film is being described as a Hulkamania origin story. In addition to serving as an executive producer on the film, Hogan will also act as a consultant, no doubt teaching Chris Hemsworth the fine art of ripping ones shirt in half.

Chris Hemsworth will next be seen reprising his role of Thor for AVENGERS: ENDGAME on April 26, 2019, and also has a leading role in MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL on June 14, 2019. As for Todd Phillips, his JOKER film starring Joaquin Phoenix will hit theaters on October 4, 2019.
