Chris Hemsworth clearly has no issue putting on size thanks to his time play Thor on the big screen. The actor is also a huge exercise and working out enthusiast and it's something he has displayed countless times on his Instagram page. In taking on the upcoming HULK HOGAN BIOPIC, Hemsworth will be hitting the gym hard once again and the actor says it will be his most physical role yet.
While speaking with "People Magazine", Hemsworth revealed that playing Hulk Hogan is going to require him to put on even more size than he did having to play Thor in the MCU films:
"This movie is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor. There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude."
The as-yet-untitled Hulk Hogan film will follow the wrestler's rise through the wrestling ranks during the 1980s and will most likely follow the explosion of Hulkamania. He's often referred to as "the most recognized wrestling star worldwide and the most popular wrestler of the 1980s." He gained worldwide recognition after singing for the WWF, now WWE, in 1983. His persona helped usher in the 1980s professional wrestling boom and he headlined the first nine editions of WrestleMania. Hogan ventured into reality television beginning in 2005 with Hogan Knows Best, which centered around Hogan, his then-wife Linda, and their children Brooke and Nick. This led to a spinoff in 2008 called Brooke Knows Best, which focused primarily on his daughter.
What's not quite known is what aspect and time period of Hogan's life the biopic will focus on. There is a lot to pull from since the wrestling star has lived a pretty fascinating life. Hemsworth seems pretty ready to dive into all of it, especially the crazy world of professional wrestling:
"Look I haven't read a script yet. I know it's being written now and worked on. I know very little about that. It's sort of in the process now. I'm just fascinated by that world, and I think they're pretty keen to show a side of the world that people haven't seen before. I'm as intrigued as you are."
The Hulk Hogan film was first announced back in February of last year and JOKER'S Todd Phillips was rumored to be attached as the director but there hasn't been an official confirmation on that. Hemsworth is also the only person to be cast in the film so far and we know that Netflix holds the exclusive rights to the film's release which will continue their relationship with Hemsworth after the successful debut of EXTRACTION on the streamer earlier this year.
