JOHN WICK directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski will be back to helm a sequel and are attached to direct BLOODSHOT for Sony and Valiant Comics, however it appears the duo's next project will be an adaptation of Antony Johnston's The Coldest City.
Deadline is reporting that Focus Features has picked up the rights to the graphic novel, and Charlize Theron will star in the planned film. Leitch and Stahelski will shoot the spy thriller this October in Germany from a script by Kurt Johnstad (300, AQUAMAN).
Graphic novel description from Amazon:
November 1989. Communism is collapsing, and soon the Berlin Wall will come down with it. But before that happens there is one last bit of cloak & dagger to attend to. Two weeks ago, an undercover MI6 officer was killed in Berlin. He was carrying information from a source in the East – a list that allegedly contains the name of every espionage agent working in Berlin, on all sides. No list was found on his body. Now Lorraine Broughton, an experienced spy with no pre-existing ties to Berlin, has been sent into this powderkeg of social unrest, counter-espionage, defections gone bad and secret assassinations to bring back the list and save the lives of the British agents whose identities reside on it.
The story may sound a little generic, but with its Cold War setting and Leitch and Stahelski set to direct, I have very high hopes for THE COLDEST CITY. Plus, who doesn't want to see Charlize Theron play a skillful spy?
Theron can be seen next in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, which will hit theaters this Friday.
