Brotherhood of the Wolf to get Blu-ray release from Scream Factory

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Who's ready to add a little action and culture to their Blu-ray collection? You are? Well, then, I'm pleased to report that Scream Factory is set to release Christophe Gans's Brotherhood of the Wolf on Blu-ray on July 27th.

Set in 18th-century France, Brotherhood of the Wolf revolves around the Chevalier de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) and his Native American friend Mani (Mark Dacascos), who are sent to the Gevaudan province at the king's behest to investigate the killings of hundreds by a mysterious beast. The plot for Brotherhood is loosely based on a real-life series of killings that took place in France involving the Beast of Gévaudan.

If Gans's name sounds familiar it's likely because he directed the big-screen adaptation of Silent Hill (2006). Despite its flaws, Silent Hill was atmospheric as all get out, and Gans applies that same energy to Brotherhood of the Wolf. For what Brotherhood lacks in possessed nurses and haunted ghost towns it more than makes for in martial arts action and intense supernatural surroundings.

Scream Factory plans to present a daring extended version of the film that showcases more of the breathtaking martial arts action and over four hours of in-depth bonus features. The film is available for pre-order now at ScreamFactory.com.
