When FOX decided to cancel the fan-favorite comedy series BROOKLYN NINE-NINE the internet understandably lost its mind, demanding some sort of justice for the acclaimed series. Within about a day the series was picked up once again by NBC, where its sixth season is currently thriving. Now NBC is making a wise move once again by keeping the good times with the 99 going by renewing the show for a seventh season.

NBC is renewing the season for what will be a second season with them, and seventh overall after running for five on FOX before being suddenly canceled. The cast learned about the renewal at a table a read on Wednesday – which was no doubt adorable – and co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta issued a statement that same day about bringing the gang back for movie police shenanigans.

"It's been one of our great joys as a network to give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a second life. Cheers to [executive producers] Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York's finest into New York's funniest."

Ever since the debut of the sixth season earlier this year the ratings have been much better than the fifth’s were over at FOX, with the current ratings at about 3.9 million viewers compared to the latter’s 2.9 million for the season finale. The show is also a huge success for the network outside of weekly viewers, with syndication on TBS and available binge-watching on Hulu. The show currently stars Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Andre Braugher, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Chelsea Peretti, Joel McKinnon Miller, and Dirk Blocker.

This is truly a glorious day for fans of the series, knowing that after the scare of seeing the show canceled that it will continue on for at least another full year. Who knows how long the series will continue, but the fan following is so huge that even if the week-to-week ratings start to dip there’s always an audience for it on streaming services like Hulu.
