Bad Boys for Life directors to helm Ms. Marvel series for Disney+

Ms. Marvel, Disney+, Marvel, TV

Marvel is developing a whole set of Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows for the Disney+ streaming service, one of which is Ms. Marvel, a series centered on Kamala Khan, a super-powered teenager who broke new ground to become Marvel's first Muslim character to headline her own comic-book. According to THR, the Ms. Marvel series has now assembled a directing team that includes Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the pair behind BAD BOYS FOR LIFE.

Bisha K. Ali will pen Ms. Marvel as well as serve as showrunner on the series, which will revolve around Kamala Khan and her struggles with finding her own way while accepting her identity as a Pakistani American. The search is now on for an actor to play Khan, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige saying that Khan will also be included in future MCU films. In addition to Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the Ms. Marvel series will also be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who won Oscars for documentaries A GIRL IN THE RIVER: THE PRICE OF FORGIVENESS and SAVING FACE, as well as Meera Menon, who has helmed episodes of GLOW, The Man in the High Castle, The Walking Dead, The Punisher, The Magicians, Outlander, and more.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah's involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was teased earlier this year then the pair said that they had met with Marvel Studios and that Marvel had asked them what they wanted to work on in the MCU.

They just met us. They said they liked the movie and they just told us, ‘Yo, what do you wanna do? Let’s find something to work together on.’ So there’s nothing really planned yet, it was just like a meeting. But yeah, we’ll see if we find something cool. Now with Disney+ it has all evolved so much that there’s so much you can do. You can do a movie or you can do a TV show. And we’ve been so busy with Bad Boys that we’ve not explored everything yet. So what we’re going to do now, me and Bilall, is we’re going to check out all they got and we’d love to find something to work with them on, but it’s not yet clear what that would be.

In addition to Ms. Marvel, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are also slated to helm BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 for Netflix, which will of course see Eddie Murphy reprising his role of Axel Foley.
