AVENGERS: ENDGAME hit the ground sprinting in April with a record-demolishing $357 million domestic opening weekend, and over $1.2 billion around the world. Since then it has rivaled AVATAR for the biggest global take ever, but has since fallen about $40-50 million short with a current take of $2.743 billion – which is still no small potatoes. But in an attempt to get people excited for the upcoming SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME and to make some last-ditch dollars the movie is heading back to theaters around the country next weekend, and coming back with an additional post-credits scene to get fans all sorts of riled up.

During the press junket for FAR FROM HOME, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with Screen Rant about their plans to re-release ENDGAME next weekend. While the movie isn’t an extended cut with tons of deleted scenes, Feige did tease an end-credits scene where there wasn’t one before, as well as a “few surprises”.

Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.

When ENDGAME was released almost two months ago it avoided the usual Marvel move by not having any scenes at the end of the credits, which are often used to tease a future installment. In not featuring one the move was to keep some plans under wraps and to let audiences focus solely on the movie they just watched. Now, some time has passed and FAR FROM HOME will be days away by the time ENDGAME gets its re-release, so perhaps this is Marvel’s way of teasing what’s to come like always, and in the process making some extra dollars.

We have no clue what the scene in question will be, but a re-release has several benefits. One, as we saw with CAPTAIN MARVEL as ENDGAME came out, the Avengers will get a serious box office boost with SPIDER-MAN on the way, as audiences get a craving for more Marvel. Two, Marvel hasn’t revealed much of their future plans as Phase 3 comes to an end, so this could be their way of revealing at least something new to get audiences excited about next year.

But, of course, we should have expected this what with it being sooo close to that sweet, sweet number one record. Re-releases hardly earn the kind of money it needs, though, especially when the original release was so recent. Still, don't want to crush their spirits too harshly.
