EVENT HORIZON scared the shit out of me back in the day. The 1997 sci-fi/horror from Paul W.S. Anderson told the story of a spaceship which disappeared into an artificial black hole after testing its experimental gravity drive. When the ship reappeared years later, a rescue crew, along with the gravity drive's creator, was sent to investigate the ship, which seems to have brought something terrifying back with it.
It seems that EVENT HORIZON may be returning to terrify audiences once again as Variety has reported that Amazon and Paramount Television are teaming up to develop a TV series based on the film. Adam Wingard, best known for YOU'RE NEXT, THE GUEST, BLAIR WITCH, DEATH NOTE, and the upcoming GODZILLA VS. KONG, is set to executive produce and direct the potential Event Horizon series. The original film starred Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Jason Isaacs, Kathleen Quinlan, Joely Richardson, Richard T. Jones, Sean Pertwee, and is well worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Event Horizon isn't the only horror series which Amazon has in the works at the moment, as they also have Them, a horror anthology series from Lena Waithe, as well as Truth Seekers, a horror comedy series which will star Nick Frost and Simon Pegg as a pair of paranormal investigators.
