According to Schwarzenegger, none of the Predator sequels were satisfactory

We've got several Arnold Schwarzenegger projects coming up which see the actor reprise past roles; a Conan sequel, THE LEGEND OF CONAN, is in development as well as a TWINS sequel titled TRIPLETS. A return to PREDATOR, one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's most iconic roles as well as one of his best films, hasn't yet materialized but the actor recently called the PREDATOR sequels which followed the original film unsatisfactory.

Arnold Schwarzenegger participated in a Reddit Q&A following a screening of TERMINATOR: GENISYS where he commented on the upcoming Shane Black PREDATOR film (more on that later) but also addressed the difficulties of making a sequel and why the PREDATOR sequels could never be as good as the first.

The sad story is that sometimes studios do a great job at creating sequels, and sometimes they really screw it up bad, and it all has to do with greed, they sometimes want to do it really cheap and make as much money as possible, so they don’t hire the right cast or the right director. It’s a stupid move to make, and therefore they lose a lot of movie by doing that, so far, no Predator, no matter which one they did after the first one has come out, has been satisfactory to the audience.

Shane Black, who appeared in the original 1987 PREDATOR, has been attached to write and direct what he's calling an "inventive sequel" to PREDATOR and while Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn't been asked to participate, he hopes that Shane Black's return to that universe "will be great."

So far the sequels to PREDATOR have included PREDATOR 2, ALIENS VS. PREDATOR, ALIENS VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM, and PREDATORS. Arnold is correct, none of those films have nearly the same impact as the first, but after the less then warm welcome that TERMINATOR: GENISYS has received, I'm not sure if Arnold can turn his nose up at mediocre sequels.

Would you like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the PREDATOR franchise?
