21 Jump Street 2 screenwriter Oren Uziel is writing a first draft of Men in Black 4

Despite a lukewarm response from fans here, MEN IN BLACK 3 did pretty well at the box office, grossing over $600 million worldwide. After stories of massive delays and script issues on set, Sony is moving forward with a fourth chapter in the scifi-comedy franchise.

Sony has tapped 21 JUMP STREET 2 screenwriter Oren Uziel to write MEN IN BLACK 4, a project he will begin once he finishes writing the sequel to the Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum hit from last year. There is no word on what sort of plot MEN IN BLACK 4 will follow, or even if Will Smith, Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, or Emma Thompson would return.

The Hollywood Reporter makes note of the fact that MEN IN BLACK 4 will cost a lot of money to bring back those actors along with director Barry Sonnenfeld and producer Steven Spielberg. Could we see MEN IN BLACK 4 serve as some sort of a passing of the torch type movie from Will Smith to a younger partner, making Smith the equivalent of Tommy Lee Jones from the first movie? I could see that working, I just hope they choose someone other than Jaden Smith.
