The Hulu streaming service will be releasing the Chloe Grace Moretz sci-fi thriller Mother/Android as a Hulu Original Film on Friday, December 17th – and with just four weeks to go until we reach that date, a trailer has arrived online and can be seen the embed above!
Moretz (Carrie 2013) stars in Mother/Android as Georgia
who, with her boyfriend Sam, goes on a treacherous journey to escape their country, which is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, the couple must face No Man’s Land — a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before giving birth.
Sam is played by Algee Smith (Judas and the Black Messiah). Raul Castillo (Army of the Dead) is also in the cast.
The film was written and directed by Mattson Tomlin, who wrote the upcoming DC Comics adaptation The Batman with that movie’s director Matt Reeves. Reeves produced Mother/Android through his company 6th & Idaho. Adam Kassan, Rafi Crohn, Charles Miller, and Miramax’s Bill Block produced the film alongside him.
Mother/Android has had my interest ever since I read that Tomlin drew inspiration from the story of the “sacrifices made to bring him into this world” when he was writing the screenplay, as his own parents were “a young couple who were determined to save their child amid the dangers of the Romanian Revolution.” He just made it a movie about an android uprising instead of a Romanian Revolution movie. Judging by the trailer, it looks to me like the finished film is pretty cool, so I will be checking it out when it’s released next month.
