Get over here and check out the new "Meet the Kast" trailer for Mortal Kombat. It's got everything you want ahead of the reboot's April 23rd release, including tons of new footage from the upcoming film, interviews with the cast, character powers on full display, and absurd levels of world-building!
"I've always talked about respecting the material and respecting the fans," Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid says in the trailer. "They all deserve to see their beloved characters elevated to this cinematic height."
As the trailer plays on, we get to see some of the majestic sets used in the film, which were shot across several locations throughout Australia. For fans of the Mortal Kombat video game franchise, you'll be thrilled to know that the film moves beyond dank caverns and ramshackle bridges. Throughout the film, we also visit frozen warehouses, lush forests, and picturesque desert locations. Each area is as deadly as the characters themselves and adds to the atmosphere that helps start a new era for Mortal Kombat on the big screen.
The new trailer also shows us lots of the character's signature moves, like Kung Lao's hat toss, Kano's laser eye, Liu Kang's fire bending, Jax's impressive strength, Sonya's enchanted power blasts, and more. Oh, and if you were worried that Mileena's teeth aren't sharp enough, this trailer will serve to help calm your tits.
"I've always believed that something elegant and beautiful can cohabitate with brutal and primal. All of the detail gives the audience a sense of realism and connectivity to this world," McQuoid adds.
After visiting the set of Mortal Kombat myself back in November 2019, I can tell you honestly and truly that it's my most anticipated movie of 2021. As impressive as these trailers are, they're nothing compared to seeing all the action up close. I believe that long-time fans of the franchise are going to love this film, and I can't wait for newcomers to come aboard, too.
