Mortal Kombat: Kabal design officially revealed

Earlier today, it was revealed that the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot film will be rated-R for "strong bloody violence", among other things. But there was also a new poster that was recently released by Warner Bros., which shows off my boy Kabal for the first time in all his glory (though there's a chance he was shown in brief glimpses during the reband trailer)! He'll be played by stuntman Daniel Nelson.

It's doubly cool for me, as I used to main Kabal back in my Mortal Kombat 3 days (I almost won the whole game with him too!), so it's nice to see him be one of the characters focused on in the marketing (especially considering the rumored roster is pretty considerable). It would also be his first time in a film, besides a brief mention in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (which you better believe pissed off nine year old me).

Anyway, you can check out his design in the banner below, and here is the official synopsis:

MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana—the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat – directed by Simon McQuoid and starring Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Bridges, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, Max Huang as Kung Lao, and Sisi Stringer as Mileena – will get over here to select theaters and HBO Max April 16th!

So what do you guys think? And who's your favorite character from the games, and are they represented in the upcoming movie? Either way, sound off below!
