Earlier this week, we introduced you to a couple of fun interviews with Joe Taslim, Lewis Tan, and Mehcad Brooks, who you can watch right now in Mortal Kombat – check out the interviews here! Yes! It's finally here! Whether you're heading to a theatre or checking it out on HBO MAX, the wait is over! And to celebrate, we wanted to bring you even more MK goodness. And what a fine group we have with director Simon McQuoid, Josh Lawson, Jessica McNamee, Ludi Lin, and Max Huang. As much fun as I, personally, had with the new flick, I'm happy to say that the cast was simply fantastic to chat with. Every single one of them.
First up, I was especially excited to see Ludi Lin and Max Huang. I had the chance to first meet Ludi back when he was a Power Ranger, and it was fantastic to catch up here. Both Max and Ludi discussed their roles – respectively Liu Kang and Kung Lao – and bringing the game to life in the new film. As for both Josh Lawson (Kano) and Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), the two were just fantastic. I especially enjoyed Lawson's take on the character. It was clear both of these fine talents had a terrific time kicking ass and taking names. For me, the cast really sold the film, and it was quite entertaining watching this fine group get to play a bit in the bloody goodness of Mortal Kombat.
And finally, we sat down with director Simon McQuoid. The filmmaker opened up about how he became involved with Mortal Kombat, and why it was so important to keep the red stuff flowing. While this is the kind of flick that many critics may not fully embrace, I'm hoping that the fans of the franchise will be pleased with a brand new movie, one that proudly wears its R-rating on display. Make sure you check out Mortal Kombat, available now on the big screen, or if you'd prefer, the comfort of your own home!
